Today was a bit of a slog, but I made it through. I feel like I rushed through the events I wrote yesterday, so today was more of a “flesh it out more” type day then an “add more stuff day”, but I’m okay with that.
I’ve always been a firm believer that pieces of writing, and novels in particular, should be just as long as they need to be. That being said, some sections definitely require more detail, and a bit of a slower pace, than others.
Still, I added another 1718 words to my novel today, bringing my word count up to 64, 295. I’ve written 38, 593 of those as part of NaNoWriMo, and am pleased to announce that I am 77% of the way to my 50,000 word writing goal.
Still, as much as I want to continue working on my book today my brain is very mushy and I think I need a break. Taking a break is an important part of the writing process: a clear and rested brain produces better work, and as with all writing you should always prioritize quality over quantity or speed.
Now if you will excuse me I have a date with a hot cup of tea and my comfy clothes.
Another good writing day! I managed to add another 2205 words to my novel, and my protagonists made an important discovery!
My novel is now 62,577 words long and I wrote 36,875 of those this month. I’m officially 73.7% of the way to my 50,000 word monthly writing goal!
Today was a good day. I only added 1261 more words to my novel, but the section I wrote added some really good spooky foreshadowing of what is to come and gave us some more insight into my three protagonists. I wasn’t really planning on adding this scene, but sometimes unexpected things happen while writing and this just sort of came out.
The spectre of prophecy raised its ugly head, testing the resolve of my heroes. Will they have the courage to continue? I’m on the edge of my seat!
My total word count is now sitting at 60, 372, and of that, I have written 34,670 for NaNoWriMo. That puts me at 69% of the way to my 50,000 word goal. I’m so excited to write more of this adventure tomorrow, but for now, my brain is mushy and I need some rest.
Today felt like one of those days where I’m incredibly busy but actually accomplish very little. Luckily, that wasn’t the case on the NaNoWriMo front. I added another 2134 words to my novel as my protagonists continue on their journey after a long, and unexpected, delay. They are eager to get on the road again, just as I am eager to continue on my writing journey.
My total word count now sits at 59,121, and I have written 33,409 of those in the last sixteen days as part of NaNoWriMo. I’m officially 66.8% of the way to my 50,000 word NaNoWriMo writing goal.
I want to press on but my brain is getting mushy and it has been a long week. I think I’ll put my keyboard aside for now and go seek out the couch, my pyjamas, and a hot cup of tea.
I can’t believe that NaNoWriMo is already half done! The last couple of weeks have just flown by. I’ve written 31, 272 words since the start of the month, bringing my novel’s total word count up to 56, 977.
Today I banged out another 1740 words, and I am now officially 62.5% of the way to my 50,000 word goal!
I find it both exhilarating and a little daunting that I might actually finish the first draft of my novel this month. On the one hand, I am so excited to be this close to finishing my first draft. On the other hand, I know that once my first draft has finished I will have to begin the next, less fun, phase: Editing.
Don’t get me wrong, I love that feeling I get when I transform mediocre prose into hopefully-less-mediocre prose, but it is definitely not as fun as the creating phase. Also, once the editing phase is finished I will have to contend with the boss level: Finding a publisher.
Still, that is a problem for Future Catherine to worry about. For now, I’m happy to put my head down, put on my thinking cap, and let my fingers dance across my keyboard.
Day 14 was a good day! I wrote 1801 words, bringing my total word count up to 54, 161. I’ve written 28, 450 words as part of NaNoWriMo, which is 57% of the way to my 50,000 word writing goal!
An excellent writing day! I pumped out 1464 words today, bringing my total word count up to 52,360. Of that, I have written 26,757 words for NaNoWriMo. I am officially 52.7% of the way to my writing goal!
Today was an excellent writing day. I wrote a very exciting scene complete with an argument and an exploding glass, bringing my novel’s total word count up to 50, 906. I wrote 2583 words today, and have written 25,293 words as part of NaNoWriMo. I’m officially half way to my 50,000 word writing goal!
Today was an excellent day. I wrote 2278 words, bringing my total word count up to 48, 323. I’ve written 22,710 words as part of NaNoWriMo, putting me 45% of the way to my 50,000 word goal.
At this rate I will likely meet my goal before the month is finished, so I plan to simply continue on and aim to add a minimum additional 1667 words per day after I have reached my goal.
I’m feeling under the weather today but I still managed to add another 1667 to my novel. I’m now sitting at 46, 045 words total, 20432 of which I have written as part of NaNoWriMo. I’m now officially 40.8% of the way to my goal.
Now if you will excuse me I have a hot date with my couch and a big mug of tea.
